THE DOINGS CUP

HINSDALE CENTRAL vs HINSDALE SOUTH
2017 - THE 35th YEAR OF THE SERIES

It was inevitable that when the class of 1968 was split to create the foundation for the new Hinsdale South High School that a new rivalry would emerge. It took until 1983 for Central and South to meet on the football field, when former head coaches Gene Strode (Central) and Dave Smith (South) concluded that the time was right for the start of a new tradition.

This annual non-conference game is always a measure of pride for both schools. The friendly rivalry brings together players and fans who have grown up together in the communities surrounding Hinsdale. In many cases the children of former players from both schools now face off across from each other in this annual contest.

The Hinsdale Doings, the local newspaper, saw the opportunity to be instrumental in memorializing each year's game by donating a traveling trophy.

As of 2016 the series stands at:
Central 22 wins,
South 12 wins.
