Hinsdale Central 21, OPRF 13

The Hinsdale Central football team was dominant on the ground as it opened up West Suburban Silver play with a win against Oak Park-River Forest on Friday night in Oak Park.

The Red Devils (2-1, 1-0) finished the game with two 100-yard rushers. Senior Garrett Oakey had 19 carries for 163 yards, while junior Luke Skokna carried the ball 23 times for 100 yards.

Oakey's 73-yard touchdown run in the third quarter put the Red Devils up 21-7. Junior quarterback Matthew Rush had a 5-yard touchdown rush and a 12-yard touchdown pass to senior tight end Matthew Bjorson in the first quarter.

OPRF (2-1, 0-1) kept it close with a 73-yard touchdown pass from sophomore Toby Kunkel to junior receiver Trevon Brown on the drive after Oakey's scoring rush. Kunkel and Brown connected for another touchdown, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Huskies' four interceptions and a fumble.

"We've come over here my first couple years and gotten blown out by not being able to control the clock," Hinsdale Central coach Dan Hartman said. "(Controlling the clock) is something we started to do last year. We put it in the game plan today, and it helps when the defense gets a bunch of turnovers for you."
