2 minute read

HAMILTON -- This is the first of a series of recaps from Colgate Football's recent spring practice. Today's topic is the offensive line.

Starters Returning: OG Jack Badovinac, OG Scott Hirshman (All-Patriot League Second Team), OT Jovaun Woolford (All-Patriot League First Team).

Starters Lost: OT Ryan Paulish (All-Patriot League First Team), OG/C Andy Simms.

Noteworthy: C Max Hartzman started four games last year before suffering a season-ending injury. He has 22 career starts.

Coach Dan Hunt's Comments:

"It was a unique spring in that we weren't looking for a lot of starters. There weren't the question marks that we had last year.
"What stuck out with me – this was the most competitive spring I've ever seen. Guys weren't playing for a starting job or any of that stuff but when we went after it, the offense and the defense got after each other.
"Every practice was fiery and the energy was extremely high. This is the first team I've had that when practice ended, they were disappointed; they wanted more reps. What more do you want?
"Offensively, the biggest thing we've got to find is a fifth starter on the offensive line. And because we had a couple of projected starters out, there were only seven of them out there and plenty of reps. I look at that as a battle that will keep going into the fall.
"Right now, Charlie Holsopple did a good job toward the end of spring, Sam Diehl came on at the end of spring. It was good to see Louie Berkowitz back out there. He's missed a bunch of time In the weight room, which he can get back, but mentally he was really sharp.
