Hinsdale Central’s Ron Kruse is in the twilight of his high school wrestling career, and he is making the most of his senior season as a Red Devils captain.
Kruse has a goal to reach the state tournament in Champaign and is using the end of his junior season as motivation to get there.
“I always remind myself, ‘This is the last turn,’ ” said Kruse, who lives in Clarendon Hills. “I am never going to be playing a high school sport (again), I might as well make the most of it.”
As a sophomore, Kruse made it to the Class 3A sectional meet at 132 pounds, but he failed to make it out of the regional last season at 138. Kruse has changed his approach entering his final season.
