Timeout: Another test awaits Central at Oak Park

Hinsdale Central football coach Mike DiMatteo believed after Friday's 47-7 rout of sister school Hinsdale South in The Doings Cup game that his Red Devils (3-2) seem to have the passion and swagger back from last season when they were second in the state 8A tournament.

We'll see, but there's always that thought with super quarterback John Whitelaw running things on the field. He has a firm grasp of DiMatteo's spread offense of multiple receivers and open lanes for Whitelaw to run on draw plays or when he feels pressured by a pass rush.

"(Receiver) Alex Kirk has opened the field up for everyone else and (offensive co-ordinator) Jamie Pass has really helped me understand my position," Whitelaw said.
