Central's playoff hopes on line in finale

FOOTBALL- After being injured for four games, Hinsdale Central senior Jake Knowles returned for one offensive series Friday against York. He was helping the Red Devils do all they can to return to the playoffs for the 10th consecutive year.

After losing to York 37-14 in West Suburban Conference Silver Division play at Dickinson Field, the Red Devils (4-4, 2-3 in Silver) are left without options. They must win their regular-season finale at Proviso West (5-3, 2-3) at 7 p.m. Friday for any reasonable postseason hope.

"We're all pumped. We need this game definitely. It's win-or-die time, so either we do it or we don't," Knowles said. "Everyone's ready to get big. It's time to make a play."
