York overcomes slow start to top Hinsdale Central 37-14

Big pass plays on both sides of the ball helped York erase an early deficit Friday at Hinsdale Central and pull away late to a 37-14 win.

The Red Devils (4-4) jumped to a 14-0 lead as Alex Hodakowski rushed for one touchdown and threw to Mitch Messina for another.

But York (7-1) foreshadowed a big second half when quarterback Jimmy Nudera connected with David Byerley for a 70-yard TD pass late in the first half.

"That big play to David right before the half energized us a little bit," York coach Bill Lech said,

"We got into the game more, were more hyped up to win and that pretty much set the tone for the rest of the game," Byerley said.
