A week ago, the duo of John Whitelaw and Alex Kirk connected for three touchdowns in a loss to Wheaton Warrenville South. On Friday night, the duo hooked up for two more scores, leading Hinsdale Central to a 37-26 victory over Proviso East.

The win evened the team's record at 1-1 as they await a matchup with Glenbard West next Saturday.

The home team got on the board first when Whitelaw scampered for a 25-yard run midway through the first quarter. Jake Knowles added a one-yard TD run in the second quarter before a safety made the score 16-0. On the ensuing possession, Whitelaw found Kirk for a 30-yard touchdown.

The two seniors were at it again at the start of the third quarter, as Whitelaw found Kirk behind the defense for a 70-yard score and a 30-0 lead. After Proviso East got on the board at the 9:11 mark of the third quarter, Whitelaw ended the scoring on the night for Hinsdale Central with a 49-yard run.

The visitors would add three late touchdowns to make the score respectible.

Whitelaw finished 5-of-12 for 132 yards while rushing for 162 yards on 11 carries. Kirk had three catches for 112 yards and Knowles rushed for 41 yards on eight carries.
