FOOTBALL- Hinsdale Central bounced back from a tough season-opening loss with an impressive victory Friday in its first home game. The Red Devils dominated the first half en route to a 37-26 victory over Proviso East in a nonconference game at Dickinson Field.

Hinsdale Central (1-1) led 23-0 at halftime and was never seriously threatened the rest of the way.

"The guys did a great job," Hinsdale Central coach Mike DiMatteo said. "We wanted to come out hard and I think we did. We had to have a better effort in certain areas (from Week 1) and we did that, too. I thought things went pretty well for us."

Hinsdale Central led 7-0 after one quarter thanks to a 25-yard touchdown run by John Whitelaw with 7 minutes, 30 seconds left in the quarter.
