Sellinger makes most of second chance

FOOTBALL- Junior Nick Sellinger was wide open to catch a 41-yard touchdown pass during the third quarter Friday and give Hinsdale Central the lead for the first time at Downers Grove North.

In stride near the 15-yard line, he couldn't hang onto quarterback Alex Hodakowski's pass.

"The first one I dropped," Sellinger said. "(Senior) John Skokna and Jack Allen told me to forget about it, and so did (junior Tom) Garvin."

He wasn't allowed to forget. On the next snap, the Red Devils ran the same play.

Once again, Sellinger was wide open, but this time he caught it for the score that helped the Red Devils get over the hump en route to a wild 37-33 West Suburban Conference Silver Division victory that retained possession of the Old Oaken Bucket traveling trophy.
