Hodakowski steps up in push to playoffs

Hinsdale Central quarterback Alex Hodakowski didn't get to see Tom Garvin make a great end-zone touchdown catch of Hodakowski's perfectly placed pass Friday to begin a thrilling 37-33 comeback victory at Downers North.

Too many players blocked his view, but Hodakowski saw the play on film Saturday and was blown away.

"Nothing Tom does surprises us," Hodakowski said of the 6-foot-4 junior tight end. "He gives us a great weapon with that size."

Hodakowski wasn't surprised, either, at the 220 combined all-purpose yards of senior John Skokna and junior Nick Sellinger, two of the lightest Red Devils at 165 and 145 pounds. "They're our speed guys, giving us two more weapons," Hodakowski said.
