Lucca's five TD passes lift York over Hinsdale Central

It wasn't necessarily do or die for York on the final Friday of the regular season, but Joe Lucca and the Dukes offense played like it.

York locked down a playoff spot with a 41-27 victory over Hinsdale Central.

The Dukes (6-3, 4-2 West Suburban Silver) stormed to a 35-13 halftime lead thanks to Lucca's 276 yards passing and five touchdown passes in the first half.

"We have some playmakers that can get things done when we spread the ball around," York coach Bill Lech said. "Joe did a good job finding the open man, and our guys can make plays."

Lucca found Ken Boesenberg (5 yards), Jordan Preuss (43 yards) and Mike Despinich (7 yards) for scores on consecutive drives to give the host Dukes a 28-7 lead.
