Nerve-racking victory earns Red Devils playoff spot, Old Oaken Bucket

A week after losing a heartbreaker to Oak Park, Hinsdale Central lived on the other end of the spectrum last Friday.

Thanks in large part to a failed two-point conversion attempt by Downers Grove North with under a minute remaining, the Red Devils escaped with a 21-20 road victory over the Trojans.

Hinsdale Central improved to 6-2 and, most importantly, clinched a playoff berth.

The Red Devils, looking to salt away a 21-14 lead, watched Brandon Salter return a punt 89 yards for a touchdown with 42.5 seconds left to bring the Trojans within 21-20.
