When Hinsdale Central and Oak Park met in week seven of the regular season, the Red Devils were on the wrong end of a 42-41 overtime score.
Friday night, the rematch turned out to be even more devastating.
A tipped-pass turned into the game-winning 50-yard touchdown for the Huskies with one minute remaining as Oak Park moved into the second round of the Class 8A postseason with a 28-24 win in Hinsdale.
"It's hard," said Hinsdale Central senior quarterback Brian Owens. "I've been with these guys my whole life. I've been playing football with them since the third grade. And now it's setting in that i's over.
"It hurts. A fluke play, that's a tough way to lose."
Hinsdale Central ended the season with a 7-3 mark.
