Hinsdale Central hangs on to Old Oaken Bucket with win against Downers Grove North

DOWNERS GROVE – In the 80th battle for the Old Oaken Bucket, Hinsdale Central retained possession of the traveling trophy with a 34-18 win against Downers Grove North.

The Red Devils finish the regular season 7-2 and will continue in the postseason, which begins next week. The playoff pairings will be announced Saturday night.

Thomas Ives caught nine passes from Matt Rafferty for 138 yards and three touchdown. Juwan Edmond ran for 168 and two touchdowns for Central.

North finishes the season with a 3-6 record but with wins in two of its final three games this season.

Wisconsin recruit David Edwards passed for 168 yards and a touchdown and added another score on the ground in his final game at North.
