Hinsdale Central's Brad Bower is making quite an impact in the world of high school football.

In his first six games-all routs for the Red Devils-the 6-foot-2-inch, 210-pound quarterback has racked up 1,466 yards of total offense and accounted for 25 touchdowns.

He is completing 74 percent of his passes, sprints 40 yards in 4.45 seconds and is the catalyst of No. 4 Hinsdale Central's volatile attack that is averaging 48 points a game.

Bower was also the runner-up to Buffalo Grove quarterback Tommy Zbikowski for the Tribune/WGN-TV Athlete of the Month honor in September.

But you know what might be Bower's singular greatest achievement to date?

He made his coach laugh.
