Cameron, Kawa, Owens unsung heroes for Devils

Any underrated candidates on Hinsdale Central's 11-2 football team that's going to Saturday's state Class 8A championship game with 13-0 Maine South?

There are defensive linemen Allan Cameron and Mike Owens for starters, and defensive back Garrett Kawa and offensive lineman Jack Curatolo.

Their names came up frequently in Hinsdale Central's thrilling 24-21 victory over Mount Carmel in the semifinals Saturday before about 6,000 fans in Hinsdale.

Cameron had a fourth-down tackle late in the first half, recovered a fumble to set up the Red Devils' game-winning drive that ended with David Lutz's 24-yard field goal and then teamed with linebacker Brendan Sullivan to stuff Mount Carmel quarterback Jordan Lynch on fourth-and-inches with 1 minute, 41 seconds left.
